The DET22 is a UHF disc seal triode developed during WWII. The heater and cathode are opposite the main envelope. The grid has a circular connection to the flat internal metal mesh. The anode appears to be copper and has a flat surface facing the grid. It is rated at 10 Watts dissipation.
A grounded grid configuration would allow for a two cavity mechanical design.
This valve is rated at 600 MHz but its extended maximum frequency of 4 GHz made it a natural choice for microwave designs.
Unlike other versions of this valve the Osram process gives a flat top and a smaller envelope length by 5 mm.
